CDC Recommended Vaccines

Adults need Immunizations, too!
Immunizations are NOT just for kids! Whether a young adult, middle-aged adult or senior citizen, we ALL need immunizations to keep us healthy.
The specific immunizations you need as an adult are determined by factors such as your age, lifestyle, high-risk conditions, type and locations of travel, and previous immunizations.

CURRENT RECOMMENDATIONS: WHAT DO I NEED?
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends several vaccines for adults, not just international travelers. For optimum protection against vaccine preventable diseases and to protect others around you such as family members, friends and co-workers, the CDC currently recommends:
| Immunization | Demographic |
|---|---|
| An annual flu immunization | Very important for persons age 50 and older |
| Pneumonia (PPV) | Persons age 65 and older |
| Hepatitis A (Hep A) | CDC defined high risk groups, and food handlers |
| Hepatitis B (Hep B) | CDC defined high risk groups, and adolescents |
| Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) | All non-immunized adults & those around young children |
| Chickenpox (varicella) | Born in the US before 1980 |
| Meningitis vaccine | Living in close quarters such as dormitories |
| MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) | Born in 1957 or later |
| HPV (human papillomavirus) | All unvaccinated women through age 26 |
| Shingles Vaccine (Zoster) | All persons age 60 or older |
